SPLC connects members directly to sustainable procurement expertise and has a proven track record of supporting hundreds of organizations to design and execute meaningful sustainable procurement strategies. We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Sustainability Program Director as soon as possible to support the Collaborative for Healthcare Action to Reduce MedTech Emissions (CHARME).
CHARME is an initiative convening health systems, medical device and equipment suppliers, distributors, GPOs, and other key industry stakeholders to define, implement, and champion best practices to reduce emissions from the MedTech supply chain. CHARME members work collaboratively to implement actions along a 24-month decarbonization roadmap defined in the white paper Catalyzing Collective Action to Decarbonize Healthcare Roadmap for Health Systems and MedTech Suppliers. As the Healthcare Program Director, you will be leading, facilitating and driving the continued development and progress of CHARME’s four workstreams and supporting governance structure towards completion of the roadmap.
Job Qualifications
The individual we are looking for is a seasoned healthcare sustainability professional and experienced program manager, able to think strategically and creatively, orchestrate numerous projects and outputs, act fast and effectively, collaborate well with colleagues, and is detail-oriented. The right candidate understands how to balance the needs of different individuals and organizations and is confident in their ability to interact and lead a wide variety of stakeholders.
Professional Credentials/Qualifications:
Required:
- Educational and practical experience in healthcare sustainability and/or procurement, with a focus on decarbonization in supply chains
- Program management
- Convening and facilitation of sustainability-focused groups (internal and/or external)
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Communication Skills:
Required: Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively beyond organizational boundaries
- Experience in and comfort with facilitating small and large group discussions towards a common outcome
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Comfort with responsibly representing the values and purpose of a mission-driven initiative to the public
- Public presentation experience
Work Skills:
Required: Experience with developing and managing to a project plan and budget
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate and set direction in collaboration with colleagues
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and effective under time pressure
- Ability to execute work effectively with minimal supervision - work independently, set own agenda, and track progress against goals

Job Responsibilities Detail
- Lead strategic direction and project management activities for the continued development of CHARME including, but not limited to, planning for and leading meetings for the core project team, Steering Committee, and Executive Committee, and managing the four CHARME workstreams – Product Durability, Product Innovation, Single-Use Device Reprocessing, and Renewable Energy
- Work with Workstream Co-Chairs to help plan and facilitate meetings, develop KPIs, and track progress against the 12- and 24-month roadmaps and measure impact.
- Develop and/or continuously improve upon templates, resources, and processes to support the workstream.
- Participate in the development and design of CHARME communications potentially including a quarterly CHARME newsletter, SPLC website, LinkedIn, annual report, case studies, industry guidance, media opportunities; and support SPLC’s marketing team for content design and publication.
- Act as the primary ambassador for CHARME, meeting with participants and partners, fielding inquiries, and identifying speaking opportunities.
- Foster partnerships with aligned organizations and companies that can support CHARME projects.
- Stay abreast of industry initiatives and engage with representatives and other industry collaboratives to 1) Ensure CHARME’s efforts are aligned and not duplicative, and 2) Identity opportunities to amplify other efforts and to promote and scale CHARME’s projects.
- Plan and facilitate workshops at key industry events.
- Build strategy for long-term continuation of healthcare decarbonization work, including alignment with SPLC’s programs and initiatives
- Supervise CHARME’s part-time program manager in collaboration with SPLC’s VP of Programs
- Track and manage the CHARME budget in partnership with SPLC Finance
- Ensure organizational participant compliance with CHARME’s operational and antitrust policies, processes and best practices
This position reports to SPLC’s Vice President of Programs and Development.
SALARY RANGE: This is a full-time, limited term (through June 2026) position (1 FTE) offering $95k-$120k depending on relevant experience and location. Candidates seeking a 0.8 FTE schedule and/or contracted role are encouraged to apply.

Insurance – Medical, Dental, Vision All SPLC employees qualify for reimbursement of the employee’s monthly premiums for a qualifying health/dental/vision plan (100% for the employee and 50% for family members, subject to a ceiling set annually) via an ICHRA. SPLC covers 100% of the employee’s premiums for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), short-term disability, and long-term disability benefits, and provides up to $750/month reimbursement for childcare expenses.
Retirement accounts All employees have the opportunity to participate in a SIMPLE IRA tax-deferred retirement savings plan with an employer 3% match.
Paid Time Off All employees receive 15 days of paid vacation time, 10 paid holidays (2 of which are “floating”), 10 sick days and 5 personal days. For each year of satisfactory service to the SPLC, an employee receives 1 additional vacation day.
