SPLC and NIGP Partner to Advance Public Procurement and Sustainability

March 17, 2025 – SPLC and The National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration and drive sustainable public procurement practices. This strategic partnership will enhance professional development opportunities and improve access to valuable resources for procurement professionals nationwide.
Under this agreement, NIGP and SPLC will work together to develop and disseminate educational programs, share expertise, and support sustainable procurement initiatives that benefit both procurement professionals and the broader public sector. The partnership aims to equip professionals with the tools and knowledge needed to integrate sustainability into procurement practices effectively.
Key Areas of Collaboration:
- Joint Professional Development Opportunities – NIGP and SPLC will co-develop educational content, including workshops, webinars, and training materials, to enhance procurement professionals' understanding of sustainability in public procurement.
- Coordinated Outreach Efforts – Both organizations will ensure broad accessibility of sustainability-focused procurement information through their websites, events, and communication channels.
Upcoming Initiatives:
- NIGP Annual Conference (July 2025) – A joint workshop will be presented to highlight best practices and trends in sustainable procurement.
- Webinar Strategy Development – NIGP and SPLC will launch an educational webinar series to share insights and expertise with procurement professionals.
- Sustainable Education Integration – Both organizations will explore opportunities to incorporate sustainability principles into existing and future training programs.
